Refuge

Teddy bear

Sometimes high-risk clients require safe residence in order to flee from domestic abuse in the family home. The refuge is a place of temporary safe accommodation for women and children until an alternative for suitable accommodation can be found. The refuge is a shared home with four private bedrooms for both single women and families.

The location of our accommodation is highly confidential, and we aim to help you keep as safe as possible.

There is no time limit in how long a family can stay in the refuge, however you will liaise with our refuge support worker to come to a decision about moving onto alternative accommodation.

If for any reason the refuge is not an option, then we will work closely with yourself to find an alternative safe accommodation.

The Shetland Women’s Aid refuge cannot accommodate pets.
